| PDT TRAINING / IPDTI (International Police Defensive Tactics Institute) PDT TRAINING offers state-of-the-art instruction in Police Defensive Tactics. The mission of the PDT TRAINING / PDT program is to competently train men and women in practical, non-deadly force techniques to control resisting or violent subjects. IPDTI courses are the result of several years of extensive study and research in the controversial and confusing field of Police Defensive Tactics (PDT) around the world. Controversial because it deals with the sensitive area of the use of force; confusing because hundreds of jurisdictions and agencies have different policies, regulations and restrictions. In addition, many court decisions and an ever-changing legal and social climate have further complicated an already complex and difficult subject. Also, unfortunately, there is a lot of misconception, misinformation and, sometimes, conflict concerning the relationship between PDT and the Martial Arts. In our courses we present universal concepts and principles of PDT. The techniques are fairly easy to learn, approved by most jurisdictions and agencies and scientifically sound to be truly effective in real life applications. IPDTI's courses are available to and recommended for individuals in the following categories (but not limited to only these categories): - Active Law Enforcement officers (City, County, State, Federal, etc)
- Military Police, CID, Air Force Security, etc
- Correction Facility Officers
- Security Personnel (including Private Investigators, Airport, Retail, Hotel, Night Club, Hospitals, etc)
- Executive / VIP Protection Specialists
- Probation / Parole Officers
- Bails bond specialists
- EMT Personnel
In addition to the categories listed above, the IPDTI course is also intended for another group that we consider instrumental to the teaching and promoting of sound PDT programs: Martial Arts Instructors. While most Martial Art Instructors outside our program claim to teach PDT, only a small percentage possess the expertise and in-depth knowledge to address the specific needs and unique demands of the Law Enforcement community, not to mention the understanding of legal, social and moral issues involved.
